Q. What qualifications do your teachers have?
We hire only teachers who hold a university degree, Ontario Teaching Certification and are members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

Q. What is your class size?
Our average class size in the Lower School (Grades 1 to 8) is 14 students in a class. In the Upper School, class size in mandatory subjects is 18 and 8 to 10 in elective subjects.

Q. Where do your graduates go?
On average, 98% of our graduates are accepted at the university of their choice.

Q. Why do you have a Board of Governors?
Our Board of Governors acts at arm's length and is responsible for overseeing the accountability of the school to its constituents. They act as a forum of 'sober second thought'.

Q. Is there any external evaluation of MacLachlan College?
Yes. Our school is one of only four schools in the Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and Brampton area that is inspected and accredited by the Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI).

MacLachlan College programmes and curriculum are also inspected and evaluated by the Ministry of Education. The 'arm's length' members of our Board of Governors answer to our constituents for accountability.

Q. How do you evaluate your students' progress?
Children in grades 3 and 6 participate in standardized testing (C.A.T.) that is externally marked. In Language Arts and Mathematics our students consistently score in the 80th and 90th national percentiles. Formal examinations commence in Grade 7. Examination procedures undergo thorough review by our Director of Academic Studies and externally through the Ministry of Education. On-going informal and criterion referenced tests are embedded in the curriculum at all levels to provide a comprehensive profile of each student.

Q. What kind of student is a suitable candidate for MacLachlan College?
Our academic programme is intended for university-bound students and we look for students who are capable of meeting the academic challenge this provides. We value the unique contribution students bring to our school community through qualities of creativity, enthusiasm and citizenship. Too, the quiet child will find a comfortable home with us. Our family style 'schoolhouse ' setting provides a rich environment for student potential to flourish.
